3 Ways to Keep Your Credit in Check When Buying a Home

Request a Copy of Your Credit Report
Requesting a copy of your credit report is a great way to get a detailed overview of your score and all the factors affecting it. There are 3 major credit bureaus that will each provide you with a free copy of your score: Experian, Transunion and Equifax.

Don’t Take Out Another Loan
Don’t take out any loans before purchasing your new home. Taking out any loans can cause your credit score to drop, sometimes very drastically, so be very cautious.

Keep Your Credit Card Utilization Low
If you own any credit cards, and tend to use it pretty often, STOP. Instead of putting yourself in more debt, pay off your debt. Paying any amount off will do great justice to your score. If you can pay it off in full, that’d be even better. Once your score improves, you can get approved for a lot more, and pay a lot less. Who doesn’t want that?
