With just under 3 million residents in Northern Virginia, the region consists of several counties and cities that generally expand south and west from Washington, DC. Northern Virginia’s transportation infrastructure includes Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport and Dulles International Airport as well as several lines of the Washington Metro subway system, transit bus services and an extensive network of interstate highways and expressways.
